Good Night and Good Luck is yet another attempt to smear the late Senator Joseph McCarthy as being a vicious anti American bully that persecuted a large number of Hollyweird actor's producers, and writers and leftist bureaucrats. The fact that virtually every allegation made by him was proven true by the Venona papers (1992) seems to have escaped Mr. Clooney's attention entirety. McCarthy's accusing some considerable number of leftists as members of the communist party which still irks the Hollyweird community after all these years. Among others he accused John Stewart Service, Harry Dexter White, who was the assistant Sec. of Treasury, G. C. Marshall, William Slone, Alger Hiss, author of the UN Charter, and the Rosenberg's both of whom were executed for giving Uncle Joe our nuclear bomb secrets. All of them were card caring members of CPUSA. Placing this into perspective, America was at that time fighting for its very life. Other accused and later proven card caring communists were FDR's first VP Wallace who was Uncle Joes best friend and had to be dumped by communist FDR because he had become an embarrassment to his administration, he was replaced by Truman, who was then kept out of the loop on everything FDR did. I. F. Stone the media idolized journalist; "The absolute highest goal of journalism" Michael Beschloss, (columnist) A journalist others will want to emulate" Jack Nelson (LA Times) "Was a great investigative reporter" Kanos Resten (NY Times) was proven to be a Soviet spy working for the KGB, who originated most of his scoops.

Mr. Clooney may well be one of America's sexist men as Opra claims, but he is also totally clueless on history and politics.

The film is in fact about the late CBS (Communist Broadcast Systems) premiere anti-American pit bulls Edward R. Murrow, with whose inflated ego the entire 50" and 60's generation was brain washed with. Don Strathairn portrays Murrow but none takes the role of McCarthy, instead historic edited clips of McCarthy are inserted into the epic. This possibly has something to do with a potential law suite by McCarthy heirs. The film portrays McCarthy as a vicious aggressive bully that destroyed the lives of numerous good men and women. So where are all the bodies? The film does not identify one single individual done in by McCarthy. To make matters worse I did not notice one piece of evidence that McCarthy in any instance accused someone falsely.

The Murrow character accuses McCarthy of smear mongering when he labeled the ACLU as a communist front organization, something clearly accepted in the 1930' at the time of the accusing. So let's look at the facts. Known socialist/communist Rodger Baldwin founded the ACLU in 1920. Baldwin made the following statement before the House committee on which he was testifying; "I favor the right of any citizen or alien to advocate murder, assassination and the overthrow by force of the U. S. government by force and violence" The exact communist 1930-40s'party line!

By 1940 the ACLU had so many communist members that they were publicly accuse of being a communist front group by to many sources to list here. Major successes of the ACLU clearly demonstrate their political direction, as well as their goals. 1943 West vs. VA board of ed. Students need not salute the American flag. 1963 Abington School District vs. Schlemp the elimination of reading from the bible. 1966 The Miranda case that forces taxpayers to fund the defense of criminally accused with taxpayers funds. The list is endless; almost every case taken by the ACLU is for leftist causes. Supporting the rights of homosexuals, opposing God, working on eliminating in God we Trust, Legalized abortion on demand, Removal of all religious symbols from any public property. While taking these cases they come up smelling like roses because taxpayers are forced to cover their costs and salaries. In fact it was not until 1940 that the ACLU barred communists from executive positions within their organization. In 1931 Hamilton Fish a congressman from NY and chairman of the House special committee to investigate communists a bi-partisan committee, stated; "The American civil Liberties Union is closely affiliated with the communist movement in the United States, and full 90% of its efforts are on behalf of communists who have come into conflict with the law."

In the entire screenplay Clooney does not identify one victim who was falsely accused by McCarthy. Great hay is made by Clooney of the accusing by McCarthy of Annie Lee Moss a point driven by the Murrow character, however the statement that Moss was innocent of the charges is never made. In fact an FBI informer later testified that Moss was a dues paying member of The Northeast Club of DC an adjunct to the communist party.

Historically we must also remember that the forerunner of the CIA the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) was so extensively staffed with communists that Harry Truman disbanded them in the early 40's, and that about at the same time the House on un-American activities located over 250 card caring communists in our State Department as senior personnel.

America's and indeed the world's leftists try relentlessly to re-write history so as to favor they're failing positions. One must however admit that they have not been without success in this endeavor. It is difficult to recall all of the evils done by the left that have twenty or fifty years after the fact were reversed in the minds of the public so as to help their cause. Stalin who is in fact accepted in Russia as an evil murderer and vilified in all of the old Soviet empire is on the way to being made a folk hero along with Che Guevara by the political left of America.
