When you read the Old Testament called the Torah by the Jews, which consists of the first five books of the Bible, you will see the answer. Read the Book of Ester. Ester was the wife of Xerxes the King of Persia. The Jews had been causing considerable social unrest in Persia and Xerxes decided to stop the civil turmoil by force. Ester convinced him to postpone his actions for one day and warned her countrymen, who then took the opportunity to attack the Persian population killing 75,000 of them. Since that time the Jews have celebrated that holocaust with a festival called PURIM. In 2003 the PURIM Celebration begins on the 17th of March.
