Synopsis: The Political System is a book about the two party systems that are operating in America, England, Canada, and many other nations. It is an expansion and up dating of a book published in 1911 by Cecil Chesterton (brother of G.K. Chesterton). It outlines the two party systems in operation and clearly demonstrates that these two parties primary interest is not in the people or the governance of the nations involved. In detail, the book demonstrates how any nation that has a two party political structure will deteriorate from a republic to a democracy, to an empire and then to totalitarianism. This occurs because the two controlling parties become ever more alike and, in fact, eventually represent not two varying philosophies, but one uniform and cohesive structure. This structure becomes single minded with the maintenance of their own power base. In the second half of the book is a copy of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, including an expansive index, missing amendments, un-ratified amendments, and a paragraph by paragraph commentary and explanation of the entire text. Comment: This book is a MUST for Libertarians, and adherence of third party political organizations. If you were disgusted by the 2000 presidential election or the phony campaign finance reform proposals, you MUST read this book. |
