Switzerland is the oldest democracy in the world. Swiss celebrate their independence day on the first of August and have done so since 1291. Due to poor political leadership and socialist impute the powerful political structure centered in the nations capital of Bern has over the years since the creation of the EU sold the Swiss birthright down the proverbial drain. The greatest aid to this effort has been the always left leaning French speaking part of Switzerland whose citizens make every effort to support any leftist or socialist endeavor.

Due to numerous accords reached by the bureaucracy in Bern with the EU relating to a myriad of issues Switzerland may just as well be a member of the EU, because many of the freedoms and much of the nations self determination has been given away. Recent agreements with the EU relating to traffic through the country demonstrate the people in Bern to have an ulterior motive of creating a situation by which Swiss will have no opportunity of choice when the matter of EU membership is brought up for a vote. In all negotiations with the EU as well as others the Swiss government has proven to be naïve'.

The way these politicians and bureaucrats deal with external issues indicates that they are inept and hapless. This is particularly true in negotiations with Germany who is bulling Switzerland endlessly. The recent forced by Germany issue relating to the largest Swiss airport at Kloten reducing the allowable airspace over Germany in approaching the airport is a prime example. The newly required approach is dangerous and has been instituted at the demand of the EU. Immigration policies have been gradually altered to follow the ludicrous EU mandates for its own members. These are now being challenged by EU member states of Holland, England, Austria, and Demark. All these nations have found out the same thing that the Swiss and Americans have known for years; namely that immigrants both legal as well as illegal commit the largest portion of crime in their societies.

Why does the EU have such an extraordinary interest in Switzerland? The answer is simple; the EU has developed a very expensive bureaucracy in Brussels manned by thousands of overpaid and unselected by anyone mandarins who want to dip their fingers into the Swiss Frank, and national treasury. The Danes know better as do the English both have refused to join the Euro currency.

The latest assault is on gun ownership, which is extremely restricted in EU nations. EU policy on gun ownership is that none should be permitted to have a gun except the police and military. The Swiss concept on the other hand is that any citizen may have or carry a firearm if he so desires. After all socialist politicians are ever in fear of an armed electorate. Swiss gun laws are about the same a VT there are none. The EU has now begun a campaign to restrict gun ownership in Switzerland.

In 2001 the Dutch ICVS carried out a crime statistics research effort in interviewing 34,000 crime victims in 17 industrialized nations. The result again as in the past demonstrates the nihilistic stance of the international gun control lobby. Australia in a fit of political correctness confiscated virtually every gun in the country and now has the distinction of having the highest violent crime rate, of industrialized nations, in the world. In sequence come England, Whales, Scotland, Finland, N. Ireland, France and Holland, all nations with draconian gun ownership laws. America is # 8 and Switzerland is not even on the list. The ICVS study is not available in America or anyplace in the EU, the results not being PC.

When we compare crime statistics in America county-by-county and state-by-state the verifiable results demonstrate that in every case crime is lower in regions with less restrictive gun laws and higher in those with restrictive gun laws. Florida per example since the enactment of a universal carry permits law has seen violent crime drop dramatically. An informative study on this issue was concluded at the end of the last presidential election in America. The astounding result was that counties of higher population, principally urban areas had a murder rate of 13.2 per 100,000 of population while rural regions had a rate of 2.1. The additional information is that those urban areas voted exclusively Democrat while the rural ones voted Republican. Leads one to the conclusion that Pavlov was right; the more you pack people together the more violent they become.
